POLICE DEPARTMENT

There are eleven Police Stations and sixteen Police Posts in District Karnal. Station House Officer (SHO) of the Police Stations are of the rank of Sub-Inspector /Inspector of Police. The SHOs are responsible for the effective working, management, good conduct and discipline of the local Police, for the preservation of peace and the prevention and detection of crime, concentrated measures are adopted by the police to check crime. For the prevention and detection of crime which include surprise checking, dusk and night patrolling, location of pickets at strategic points, surveillance over B.C.s, criminals etc., Opening of history sheets in respects of criminals. Redressal of public complaints receives top priority.

Telephone facility is available in all the Police Stations

    DSP(Hqrs.) Karnal is the Supervisory officer of PS Sadar Karnal, City Karnal,  Indri, Taroari, CIA-I & II.  DSP Assandh is Supervisory officer of PS Assandh, Nissing and Gharounda.  DSP (City) is Supervisory officer of PS  Civil Lines, Butana, Kunjpura & Madhuban,  and Police lines Karnal.

Haryana Police Academy MADHUBAN(KARNAL)

HPA, Madhuban is situated on National Highway No.1 about 10 KMs. From Karnal city towards Delhi. It is the main training unit in Haryana State. It has a big campus with adequate infrastructural facilities for trainees. This college has been conducting basic courses for newly appointed recruits and other promotional courses. The institute also imparts training to IPS Probationary officers of Haryana State. The institute enjoys a good reputation and Police Officers of other states also come here for training courses. PTC, is a segment of police complex, Madhuban.
        A unit of crime branch of CID, Haryana also works in police complex. This Crime Branch conducts the investigation of sensational and important cases assigned by senior officers and by various courts.
        Forensic science Laboratory, Madhuban provides scientific aid to investigation. It analysis blood, weapon of offences, forged documents etc.

POLICE CONTROL ROOM

The main function of the Police Control Room is to maintain communication link with various Police Stations/Police Posts and mobile factions through wireless for the maintenance of law & order effectively. 4 PCR vans & 27 Motor Cycle Riders are stationed at strategic places in the city area karnal and on National Highway in such a way so as to reach the spot of occurrence within the shortest possible time after having received a call from the control room. The PCRs also provide security to VIPs and carryout relief functions.

C.I.A.

In order to investigate sensational or complicated cases and crimes committed by gangs of criminals a CIA-I, CIA-II & CIA-III Staff headed by an Inspector has been constituted under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Karnal. The record of the criminals are maintained in CRO Branch of CIA which includes crime, index of criminals, publication of weekly CIA gazette record of unidentified dead bodies, Missing persons, un-traces cases of crime against property, unclaimed vehicles, stolen vehicles etc.

 C.I.D.

Every district has a unit of criminal investigations department Haryana headed by an Inspector. This unit collect all kind of Intelligence from the fields and convey to the district for  police for the maintenance of law & order and public peace in all sections of the society.

 SECURITY BRANCH

There is a Security Branch in the district Police Office for making necessary arrangements for the security of VIPs and other prominent persons including foreigners. Besides, this branch also deals with the cases of verifications, character verification etc. The staff posted in this branch also collects intelligence from the field.

Mahila Police

A women cell consisting of One Inspector, One SI, three ASI, three Head Constable, two E.HC & Six Constable are posted in the premises of PS Sadar Karnal. This cell deal all the cases relating to women.
